Long time….

  Seems like it has been a long time since posting on here. With everything going on, physically, in my life I haven’t had much motivation to keep my tumblr page going.

  A lot of pain discomfort that was finally attributed to a degenerative disc in my lower back (L5-S1), as well as disc bulges.The main nerve running to my right leg is pinched and causing a lot of issues. Somehow this has caused my right pelvis to rotate forward, which makes my right leg functionally shorter than my left. Not by much, but enough to add extra pain.

  Now I am going to physical therapy three times a week and placed on restrictions. No twisting at the waist, no bending over at the waist, no lifting more than five pounds, no running or jogging, no hiking (not even walking on uneven surfaces), and sleep with a pillow between my knees. That is a lot to keep track.

  This Friday (the 18th) I have a follow up with a specialist to discuss my further treatment. There has already been discussion of surgery to shave the large disc bulge that is pinching the nerve. Which terrifies me.

Been away from Tumblr a bit…..

  At the end of last November I went to the doctor for groin pain. Then I was diagnosed with a hernia and set up for a consultation with a specialist for a second opinion. Went to the specialist and found out that the pain is not a hernia; the doctor wasn’t sure what was causing the pain but it was definitely not a hernia.

  Months have passed and I have had multiple x-rays, numerous blood tests, a CT scan, and lastly an MRI on my lower back. All the while the pain increased and seemed to radiate from my right hip down to my knee. So today after a 2 hour doctor appointment to discuss my MRI scan, found out that my L5-S1 disc is in horrible shape. The doctor said the shape that disc is in would be something he sees in people that are 60-70 years old.

 Now I have to start 7 weeks of physical therapy, which the doctor doesn’t think will improve the disc but I still have to go through it, before another doctor appointment. After that I am looking at surgery on that disc. All this time I haven’t been able to weight train or do anything to strenuous.

 Between the pain, discomfort, and physical restrictions it’s just hard to stay positive.
